Psychological Advice and Counseling Center

My name is David Shane. I am a clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. I started this website to provide basic advice and counseling for problems with relationships, nervousness, anxiety, situational conflict and other problems to people who prefer not to go to conventional clinics.

In my 25 years of experience in the field, I have met a lot of people who are afraid that if they see a therapist, they will be pulled into an expensive process. Billing the insurance company creates a record. They have to get off work. They want advice on a specific problem, not a diagnosis and personality reconstruction. To put it another way, they would like to know someone who owns a pickup truck, without having to buy one themselves.

The purpose of this site is to give people intelligent answers to personal questions that people may have involving psychological issues. For a reasonable fee, a person can split the difference between a formal appointment with a qualified professional and getting advice from a well meaning friend, who may not really know much about the subject.

If you have a question you would like to ask, all you have to do is click on the “Buy a Consultation” button. Read the “Honest Understanding” page, pay the $25.00 fee by credit card and fill out the question form. The question form asks for a little specific information to help me understand who you are and gives you space to type out the question in your own words. The form is sent to me by e-mail and I will make every effort to send you an intelligent answer by e-mail within 48 hours.

If you would like to read more without a fee, my credentials and thoughts on a variety of general subject can be found by clicking on “Who is He?”; “News and Notes” and Frequently Asked Questions.”
